DIG full form is Deputy Inspector General. DIG rank is almost equal to Brigadier rank in India Army. In most administration jobs in India, you can take entry in two ways either by promoting or passing an exam, but by clearing any exam, you cannot become a direct DIG because DIG is made only by being promoted.
How To Become DIG
If you want to become one then firstly you have to pass Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) or State Public Service Commission (State PSC).
If you pass the UPSC exam, initally you will get the position of IPS and within 14 years you would become DIG. If you pass the State PCS exam, then your posting is done as DSP and in 10 to 15 years from DSP post you become SP and then promoted in 14 years to become a DIG.
Eligibility Criteria And Salary Of DIG
- It is must to have graduation degree, percentage does not matter.
- The candidate age should be in between 21 years to 30 years.There is relaxation in upper age limit for OBC candidate by 3 years, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for PWD.
- The Pay-Scale or Salary of DIG varies between Rs.67000-79000.
