FSSAI Full Form is Food Safety And Standards Authority Of India. FSSAI has been established with the objective of testing all the food items sold. The Government of India established FSSAI on 5 september 2008. Its headquarter is in Delhi, with 8 offices of FSSAI across the country which are located in Delhi, Lucknow, Cochin, Chennai, Guwahati, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
Its President or Chief Executive Officer is appointed by the Government of India in Delhi itself. The main objective of FSSAI is to create value based science for food ingredients and to control the import, storage, distribution, sale and import of food items etc. and to provide safe and complete diet for human consumption.
HOW DOES FSSAI WORK

1) Give training
FSSAI organizes food related programs through which all the information related to the food business is given to the people involved in the food business or those who intend to join.
2) Setting the guidelines
Their most important work is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, to formulate guidelines related to food and to ensure that the guidelines made by them are not being followed in the country.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India or FSSAI examines the food made by the food businessmen and determines whether the food prepared by the food traders is edible or not.
If after checking the food items, they find the food right and worthy, then the food businessmen are given a certificate and after that the food businessmen have no problem in running their business completely.
4) Network Establishment
The important function of FSSAI is to establish an information network across the country so that the general consumer, public, panchayat etc. can easily get objective, reliable and complete information about food safety and related issues at a fast pace.
5) Providing scientific advice and technical support
FSSAI provides scientific advice and technical assistance to the Central and State Governments in relation to the policy and regulations directly or indirectly affecting food safety and nutrition. This is his most important work.
6) Promoting awareness
The important work of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is to promote general awareness among the public and the public about food safety and food standards.
